Hamasho has long been our absolute favorite terroir in all of Ethiopia. Having fallen deeply in love with the exceptional honeys and naturals crafted by our cherished long-term partner since 2022, Eliyas Dukamo of Elto Coffee, we have spent seasons craving the opportunity to roast and share a washed expression from this extraordinary origin.

The Process: Washed Honey

This innovative lot bridges the pristine clarity of a washed profile with the tactile richness of a honey process. Processed essentially as a washed coffee but with a deliberately larger amount of mucilage retained during drying, this approach yields an intensely juicy cup with a noticeably bigger, rounder body than conventional washed offerings.

The Cup Profile

In the cup, the iconic characteristics of the 74158 cultivar are pronounced with breathtaking vibrancy, delivering striking notes of sweet white peach and lush tropical guava. Layered above the fruit is an intoxicating, crazy floral aroma of osmanthus—a magnificent anomaly for a washed-style coffee that leaves a brilliantly perfumed, lingering finish.
