El Vergel is a celebrated estate situated in Tolima, renowned worldwide for pushing the boundaries of agricultural precision, innovative processing, and cultivating exceptionally rare botanical varieties. Wush Wush, an exotic Ethiopian landrace variety, has been at the top of our wishlist to roast since 2017. For years, however, nearly every lot available on the market was obscured by heavy experimental fermentations that masked the delicate soul of the plant.

Cultivar Potential via Classic Natural

We finally crossed paths with this extraordinary offering from El Vergel—a classic natural lot crafted to let the inherent genetics and terroir take center stage. Rather than relying on overpowering fermentation artifacts, this clean natural process steps back, allowing the authentic, unadulterated potential of the Wush Wush cultivar to shine with pristine clarity, high sweetness, and remarkable transparency.

The Cup Profile

On the cupping table, this lot captivated us with its exceptional brightness and soaring tropical fruit spectrum. The experience opens with vibrant notes of tangy raspberry and perfumed rose hip, seamlessly giving way to succulent layers of fresh watermelon and juicy passion fruit. The finish is crystalline, sparkling, and long, anchored by a bright citrus burst of fresh pomelo.
